From orchards in bloom and wine grapes ripening in the sun...to action packed rodeos, fiestas and painting outdoor murals, the Yakima Valley is an adventure waiting to happen.

Say hello to the communities of the Yakima Valley

Visit White Swan, one of the first settlements in the Valley, with historic Fort Simcoe nearby.

Check out friendly Harrah, and drive by the old mansion on Harrah Road that was built by the town’s developer, Julius Harrah.

Enjoy Wapato with its shady, green city parks. If you’re in town on Labor Day, you’re in for a treat with the annual Wapato Harvest Festival. Or on Mother’s Day weekend, it’s the annual May Fest.

Drive into Toppenish, the city where the west still lives. Toppenish is “the city of murals and museums” with the giant outdoor murals that decorate the walls of many of its buildings and three museums to visit. Don’t forget the Valley’s premiere Fourth of July event, the Toppenish Pow Wow Rodeo and Indian Village.

Visit Zillah, a beautiful small town perched on a plateau high above the Yakima River. You’ll see signs that guide you on the famous Fruit Loop tour past orchards, wineries and other points of interest.

Drive over to Granger. Down at Hisey Park and Jurassic Pond you’ll find a bunch of dinosaurs, perched on the park’s bluffs and wading in the pond.

Check out Sunnyside, and escape to the sun. Located in the heartland of one of the most diversified agricultural areas of the world, Sunnyside has a comfortable livability and great shopping.

Stop in at Mabton, on Highway 22 about 25 miles southeast of Toppenish and just south of Sunnyside. The town has a lot of history and many original buildings.

Drive to Bickleton, about 25 miles south of Mabton up over the hills to a land of rural beauty and bluebirds. Drive on to Roosevelt for great fishing and a look at the Columbia.

Visit Grandview, surrounded by fertile fields, orchards and vineyards. It is the home of Washington State’s oldest winery, Chateau Ste. Michelle.

Motor down to Prosser, nestled below the rolling Horse Heaven Hills, with numerous family wineries, beautiful turn-of-the-century homes, and excellent recreational facilities.

Just north of Toppenish you can share the rich heritage of the Yakama Indian Nation Cultural Center. There you’ll find a gift shop, library, museum, winterlodge convention facility, restaurant and theatre.

And just next door to the Cultural Center is the Yakama Nation RV Park where you can park a trailer, or rent a teepee for the night. There is a recreational center and swimming pool as well.

The tribe’s Yakama Nation Legends Casino is a 45,000 square foot facility brings Las Vegas style recreational gambling and entertainment to the Valley, located just west of Highway 97 on Fort Road.

Spend a leisurely afternoon touring the Lower Valley area wineries, some of the best in the Yakima Valley Appellation.

Cool off in the swimming pools you’ll find in all Lower Valley communities.

Attend the colorful events that make the Lower Valley special—traditional community days, Indian pow wows, Mexican fiestas, Japanese and Filipino events, rodeos, and much more.
